Artist Statement
Maryam Abdelalim, also known as Yams. Is a language, visual and performance artist. She is a poet, theatre maker, fashion designer, musician and bookwurm. Born from a Dutch mother and an Egyptian father she holds a fascinating mixture of western and eastern philosophies that profoundly bleed through the philosophies and manifestations of her work. She is a true admirer of the earthly existence, in every corner of life she finds mystical depths and is enchanted by it. In her work she engages in a dialogue with the unseen and attempts to make it more visible.
